Gin Rickey – a classic drink from America

Gin Rickey is a classic gin-based drink, served in a highball glass, which you should decorate by a piece of lime.
Founded in Shoomaker bar in Washington, at the end of the nineteenth century and was named in honor of Colonel Joe Rickey (US lobbyist). Initially used for its preparation bourbon. The final list of ingredients needed for its preparation is as follows: gin, freshly squeezed lime juice and carbonated water. Gin Rickey could be an alternative for the classic gin and tonic.


  • gin (60 ml)
  • lime juice, freshly squeezed (15 ml)
  • carbonated water (to be completed)
  • ice cubes

Preparation and serving:

Highball glass fill with ice cubes. Pour into it one after the other: gin, freshly squeezed juice from the lime. We complement a glass of carbonated water and stir. Finally decorate it with a piece of lime.
